July 16, 2002 – The Canadian Cycling Association is pleased to announce that
Sue Palmer-Komar has been added to the women’s road team at the Commonwealth
Games, which begin on July 25th.

Palmer-Komar, 35, of Hamilton, ON, replaces Genevieve Jeanson, 20, of
Lachine, QC, who withdrew this past weekend due an injury. Palmer-Komar will
be attending her second Commonwealth Games (Victoria 1994). She will compete
in the Women’s Road Time Trial on July 27th and on the Women’s Road Race on
August 3rd.

“We are extremely pleased that Sue was available for this event. She has
proven on numerous occasions that she can compete with the best in the
world. Most recently at the 2002 Hewlett-Packard Women’s Challenge in Boise,
ID, USA, she finished 8th overall and at the 2001 World Road Championships
in Lisobon, Portugal, she placed 10th overall in the road race.” says CCA
Executive Director, Pierre Hutsebaut. “She will be an excellent addition to
the team.”
