October 25, 2004 – Hello! A great ending to what was no doubt one of the best University Cup race seasons yet. For those of you who were unable to make it to London on Sunday to participate, the race results are here: http://mtnbike.sa.utoronto.ca/results.html
Overall points will be posted soon. The University of Toronto took the overall Championship with our good friends at Queen’s coming in second, followed by McMaster in the top three.
But what I found most impressive is that we saw riders from over 20 Ontario colleges and universities participate this year!
I am always impressed at how full of energy and how positive the atmosphere is at the races. This has everything to do with you guys and the work you do. Thank you for taking leadership roles with your team and sport. The most important aspect to the University Cup philosophy is to keep it fun so that those who try their first race, as well as the experts have a positive experience.
I know many of you have just started clubs and have many of questions regarding “how to get campus recognition”, “how do you raise money?” and other issues surrounding your club. Please feel free to send me your questions and I’ll try to compile a FAQ sheet and e-mail it all of you and perhaps it might help. Perhaps we can help each others teams become stronger.
To those of you who are graduating this year I wish you the very best. I have no doubt you will be successful in all your future endeavors. And remember, alumni are always welcomed back.
One last note, if you know who will be the contact person for your club next year, and its not you, could you send their e-mail address to me.
All the very best,
David Wright
