Ontario MTB Marathon Championships – Free BBQ by a Pool this Weekend!

release by substance projects

August 02, 2012 (Kingston, ON) – You can go straight from the top of the podium to a cannon ball! This Sunday the Ontario MTB Marathon Championships will finish with a BBQ next to Ontario’s only swim-up podium.

Run entirely on private property this weekend’s course includes: a ride through a barn—twice– a pump track, a moto-cross track, seemingly endless single track, three new sections of single track, over 15 bridges and some great views.  This is a fun course with very little climbing.

This is also the final chance of 2012 to capture the Apogee Leaders Jerseys for the Women, SS, Men Open and Master Men in the Marathon.

The 60k Marathon course features 3 stocked feed/tech zones, and the 25k Half-Marathon features one fully stocked feed/tech zones. Each feed/tech zones has a Topeak Floor Pump, Axiom Tubes for 26″ and 29″ wheels, SuperB multi tools, Finish Line Dry and Wet lube, HEED along with water and bananas. No excuses here!

Don’t feel like riding that far? There is also the Sprint race. For people who want to do one lap, just not quite as big. The course is around 14k and rumour has it that you can ride a few k of single track without touching your brakes if you get the groove right!

When you are done, grab a burger (or veggie burger) and some salad and chill by the pool while you wait for the podium and draw prizes, and make up stories of greatness on the trail!

Too far to drive to Kingston the morning of the race? No problem, Free camping the night before is included for all riders.

It is not too late to pre-register and save. You can register on the OCA site, or as many are, you can register HERE and pay via INTERAC e-Transfer.

New for 2012, we will be using twitter to post results, race updates and pics for those who can’t make it out but want to know how their friends are doing! www.twitter.com/victorias100
