March 11, 2014 – After months of postulating over various venues, Superfly Racing has decided to return to Mountainview Ski and Mountain Bike Centre for Ontario Cup #6!
As a host venue for the series between 2008 and 2010, the series returns to a totally revamped course featuring a flatter race start and more fast, flowy trails. With several lead-up events boasting hilly, technical courses, Superfly Racing wanted to reintroduce something that will be a blast for all levels of riders.
In talks with Mountainview Cycling Club leader Thomas Wood, it was agreed that the lung bursting start climb and steeper elements would be toned down, and as always the town of Midland is ready to roll out the red carpet for the event.
“After a 4-year hiatus I feel the time is right to go back to Midland. With great camping, accommodations and summer activities nearby, and an active store sponsor of the series in Total Sports run by Mark Mathews and his passionate team, Midland is a great mid-summer destination” exclaims race director Sean Ruppel.
A key criteria for host towns is helpful locals and a venue that would benefit from hosting the event, creating a long-lasting and symbiotic relationship. Having a variety of venues in the fold means each year unique and creative things can be done with the flagship series of the OCA and Canada’s most successful provincial series.
We look forward to seeing you at Mountainview!
