October 4, 2003 (Toronto, ON) – Ontario Provincial MTB Champion and Canada Cup overall winner, Jesse Jakomait (Team Hardwood), received this year¼s OCA MTB Male Athlete of the Year Award. The talented rider made the eight-hour trip from Sault-Ste-Marie to attend the awards gala.

While accepting his award, Jakomait borrowed the microphone from OCA executive director, Steve Merker, to address the crowd. “I just wanted to say thanks to everyone in Ontario cycling, it's a really big thing, developing athletesäand there's so many great supporters here. I think it's the best province for developing athletes in Canada, and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has supported it.”
