December 17, 2005 – OCA Member, Scott Doel, has won the Canadian Cycling Association’s 2005 Cyclo-Cross Organizer of the Year Award.

This year Mr. Doel organized the National Cyclo-Cross Championships at Hardwood Hills. The event, despite the weather, drew over 175 racers and many spectators from across the country The following day Mr. Doel organized the Aurora Cross – Canada’s first ever UCI cyclo-cross race. The UCI event, with its tradional Aurora winds, was also a success with riders travelling from as far as Oregon to compete.

Both events attracted some of the top cyclo-cross racers in North America including (in no particular order); Peter Wedge, Greg Reain, David Coughlin, Tim Johnson, Peter Morse, Aaron Fillion, Christian Meier, Martin Lazarksi, Wendy Simms and Lyne Bessette. This award will fit nicely on the wall beside his 2005 OCA Road Contributor of the Year award.
