November 25, 2004 – The Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) is the provincial sport organization governing the sport of Cycling. Members are competitive and recreational cyclists between the ages of 5 and 80. The OCA is seeking a candidate to work with current staff and volunteer committees and to provide leadership for the growth of BMX in Ontario. Key Accountabilities:
BMX Growth and Development Officer
– Oversee and manage all daily operations of the BMX programs in Ontario.
Including the collection of data, membership and program registration, and
all client services such as answering the phone, faxing and photocopying
services
– Prepare a BMX track start up manual- Increase the number of BMX tracks
in Ontario through solicitation with communities across Ontario
– Increase the number of BMX riders in Ontario through marketing efforts
– Assist in program coordination and execution, including; registration,
budgeting, follow-up and evaluation
– Assist in tracking, processing, and fulfilling information inquiries
– This individual must oversee and maintain all BMX related programs
Other Responsibilities
-Soliciting sponsors specifically for the BMX racing scene in Ontario
through integrated multimedia presentations
-Develop relationships with the retail sector servicing the BMX community
-Publish the monthly BMX newsletter (including writing, photographs and
finding content)
-Cross promote BMX with the other cycling disciplines
-Contribute to all general OCA communication materials, including the
newsletters, handbooks, the Annual General Meeting Report and the OCA’s
website.
-Assist with planning special events and meetings
-Grant writing
-Attending events on the OCA’s behalf
-As a small association, we expect a team player who will help wherever
necessary

-Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Other Requirements:
-Proficient computer skills; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
-Appropriate post-secondary education
-Proven administration experience and skills. At least 3 years work
experience, preferably in a not for profit or sports environment
-BMX racing experience is desired by not mandatory
