February 28, 2007 – After an extensive search for a candidate who has the vision and experience for this position, the OCA is pleased to announce that Brendan Arnold has accepted the position of Manager, High Performance Programs.
Brendan’s involvement in the sport of cycling spans over 20 years, he has competed nationally and on a world class level finishing as a world cup finalist 2 times and 2 podium finishes at a National level.
Brendan is currently a Level 2 certified BMX coach (Australia) and was instrumental in developing and leading the High Performance BMX program in Ontario, Brendan has also recently developed a Talent I.D squad that will identify talented juniors and hopefully develop them into future High Performance athletes.
He has certification in Health Fitness and Sports Training and is currently finishing his Human Resources certification.
Brendan is not only an avid cyclist but his other interests include golf, cricket and spending time with his family, wife Elaine and young son Calen.
He is committed to producing a strong Athlete Development Program; increasing Ontario’s Coaching Pool; and supporting our High Performance Cyclists by getting them to the National Team level all the while working closely with Ontario coaches and the strong support team.
Brendan says “I am extremely excited for this great opportunity – I know I have big shoes to fill, but I feel that with the great support and leadership that currently exists at the OCA, we can make Ontario the dominant province in all areas of cycling.”
