a. King City Grand Prix, April 24, 2005
The Ontario Road Racing season continues with the King City Grand Prix on Sunday April 24. This is a 12 km loop just north of King City that utilizes several roads used by the famous “Donut Ride”. The course is quite hilly and should be selective.
Based on the turnout at the Mosport Ontario Cup, we are offering on-line pre-registration in order to make the sign-in process as smooth as possible on race day. Visit our website for registration information.
We are in need of several volunteers: We require marshals (age 16 and over) to ensure that the riders remain safe at all times. Also needed are drivers and assistants for the neutral wheel service vehicles

d. Casco Tour d’Habitat

Description: Our race is a low-budget, grind-it-out, early-season event that lets you test your legs after a long winter on the trainer. It also offers a convenient location for Eastern Ontario riders, within a 90-minute drive of Ottawa, Cornwall and Kingston. The race is held on a 9.6 kilometer circuit comprised of the loop of Cou nty Road 27, Howe Road, and County Road 46. Apart from the joy of slogging it out through a ride of up to 96 kilometres on beautiful country roads, we also offer at least $1,000 in cash prizes, plus the top male and female riders’ names will be engraved on the Gordon Di Labio Memorial Plaque. Di Labio was an Iron Man triathlete, an avid cyclist, and an admired member of the Brockville Cycling Club who tragically died of cancer in 2004. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s race. 2. Grand Opening of Forest City Velodrome
The work at the Velodrome is now in its final stages and we are sure you all are as excited as we are for this to open. The first race is on Saturday April 23 starting at 7pm. The admission fee is:
Adult: $10.00
Seniors: $5.00 (with or without coupon)
Children under 15: Free when accompanied by an adult
Don’t miss the opening race. Make sure you are there!
Furthermore, the Ontario Cycling Association’s High Performance camp begins on Friday evening and continues throughout the day on Saturday. Experienced track riders must apply to the OCA to get registered or contact:
Nas-track Madison riders should be at the track in the afternoon to get their own track practice during the afternoon session of the camp. Racers will pay no entry fee on any Saturday night program. There are many more races during the program on Saturday nights (scratch, points, devils, dash for cash, handicaps) for non-madison racers. Riders interested in racing on Saturday night should contact Rob Good for more information 1-888-508-3944.

3. OCA Youth Development Camp
The OCA is organizing a Youth Development Camp in June.

Dates: Saturday June 18, 2005 and Sunday June 19, 2005
Number of Par ticipants: 35 participants
Cost to Participants: $45
Age Group: age 13-14: “Under 15” or “U15” (originally Minime) age 15-16: “Under 17” or “U17” (originally Cadet)
Objective: To develop athletes in the mountain bike discipline. This camp has been designed to meet the needs of Minime and Cadet aged athletes who have competed in some form of organized racing (i.e. Citizens Race events, O Cup).

5. Female Coaches Wanted
Women’s Cycling Clinics ñ Waterloo Cycling Club
Here is a chance for all female coaches who are looking to complete their practical component. The Waterloo Cycling Club is looking for a Coach to conduct 1 or 2 clinics depending on your discipline MTB/Road. (If you have both you can do both)

6. Syl Apps Special Achievement Award for Jim Crosscombe
Jim Crosscombe, President of OCA was awarded the Syl Apps Special Achievement for 2004 by the Government of Ontario and the Sport Alliance of Ontario. This award was presented at the 38th Ontario Sport Awards in a ceremony at the Ontario Science Centre, Thursday April 7th, 2005.
The Syl Apps Special Achievement Award is named after the legendary Toronto Maple Leaf captain and 1936 Olympian.
Jim received this award for his dedicated and tireless efforts leading the OCA as volunteer President for the past six years.
