November 26, 2005 – 117 OCA clubs and teams have battled Mother Nature and the country’s best courses, releasing their cyclist within and racing to Club Challenge glory. After 37 events of DH, 4x, XC, Road and Cyclo-Cross, the OCA Club Challenge boils down to the final two events on the final weekend of the year (Gear’s Cross in Bradford and Terry Fox Cross in Ottawa).

Only 19 points separate the province’s top two clubs. Team Hardwood built a big lead throughout the MTB season however Waterloo Cycling Club has quietly used the cyclo-cross season to bridge the gap. Last year’s champion, Bay Cycle / 3 Rox Racing is sitting comfortably in third place. Established clubs, Ottawa Bicycle Club and the St. Catharines Cycling Club (only 7 pts behind) will be battling on separate courses for fourth place. Cyclo-Cross focused clubs; Impala Bicycles, The Cyclery and Chain Reaction are all within striking distance of 5th place.

The OCA Club Challenge was created last year in the interest of creating more friendly camaraderie between clubs. The top five clubs will be recognised at the OCA AGM in March
