October 25, 2006 – It is time to plan the 2007 cycling season.

The OCA will announce the 2007 calendar on December 1st. The 2007 Event Permit application forms will be available on our website next week. The process of adding events to the calendar will stay the same except there will be no Date Setting meeting.

Road Ontario Cup and Provincials Early Submission Deadline Process: For Provincial Championship events and O-Cup events, the early submission deadline is NOON, November 10, 2006 at the OCA office. Completed applications submitted on or before this date will be given priority over O-Cup applications submitted later. However completed applications do not guarantee approval.

For regional events, the application submission deadline is November 17, 2006. Completed applications submitted at the meeting or earlier will be given priority over applications submitted later.

For citizen events, ideally we would appreciate your paperwork returned by November 17, 2006.

Event Permit fees are to be included with your application. Only cheques from the successful applications will be cashed.

Mountain Bike Regional, Road Regional, and MTB Citizen Events Process: To schedule a mountain bike regional, road regional, or MTB citizen event, complete the Event Permit Application to the OCA office, with the appropriate fee. Ideally we would appreciate your paperwork returned by November 17, 2006. At this time we will not be accepting applications for the DH, 4x or MTB Ontario Cup Series.



Notes Remember: Event Permit fees are to be included with your application.

Only organizers who have no outstanding issues (financial and/or paperwork) will be eligible to submit 2007 Event Permit applications. Please show the courtesy to resolve any outstanding issues as soon as possible. Do not to wait until the third week of November.

Unfortunately last year we had to deny many qualified applications Road Ontario Cup status because we received so many exceptional bids. If you are applying for Road Ontario Cup status, it would be in your event’s best interest to include as much factual (and realistic) information as possible. This includes possible dates, course maps, schedules, city endorsements, etc. The Road Ontario Cup Selection Committee will conduct its bid evaluation with the information provided in the application.

If you are concerned about your date or are applying for O-Cup status (road only) or Provincial Championships (Track, MTB Enduro or Cyclo-Cross), we highly recommend you submit your application (with fee) by the early submission deadline of NOON, November 10, 2006.
