November 1, 2007 – A total of 170 riders came to Kanata, Ontario on October 28 to race one of the favourite circuits on the series. 89 riders rode the first race containing Master Men B, C, and d as well as Women B, junior Men and Women and U17, U15 and U13. Wile 81 raced the second race. A good contingent of racers from Quebec showed up and raced very well placing 3 in the top 6 of the second race.
Conditions were cool, sunny but with a very strong wind which affected riders as all over the course. The rain the day before surprisingly did not affect the course.
Race 1
Right off the start, a small group of 4 riders took the lead headed by Jim Laird (MC –TI Cycle Racing). The group kept intact until the 4 lap when Greg Christie (MC — Ride With Rendall) powered away from the lead group and never relinquished the lead. Karl Hoppner (U15- Ride With Rendall) rode a very strong race and came in 6th over all. Denise Ramsden (Jr Women –CyclocrossOntario, com) had an excellent race placing 36th overall and leading all women. Jon Gee (MC -TI Cycle Racing), Gary Romkey (MD — Ride with Rendall), Ryan Damen (Jr M — Ottawa BC), Connor O’Brien (U17 — Ride With Rendall), Sarah Boyd (Jr W- independent), Derek Gee (U13 — Independent) all won their respective categories.
Race 2
In the second race, of Senior men, Master Men A and Women A, it was a battle for second place as Osmond Bakker (Sr M — Stevens Cross) gave everyone a lesson in cyclo-cross racing pulling away from the pack from the start. Aaron Fillion (Sr M — Ottawa BC) and Benoit Simard (Sr M — BluBerri-Specialized) battled together for most of the race with Aaron taking charge in the last two laps for second place. Benoit finished a strong third place. The women’s race saw Jennifer Stephenson (Expresscopy.com) slowly put distance on Natasha Elliot in lap 5 after having ridden together to that point. Jennifer then increased her lead in lap 6 to hold on to the win. The Master Men A was won by Daniel Coldrey (EMD Serono Cyclogik).
