July 16, 2005 (Sandpoint, ID) – Racers thought the bad weather was over after a storm hit northern Idaho’s Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort two hours before the pro cross-country event. But at about the halfway mark, a chilly wind picked up again and rain began to fall. Despite the winter-like conditions, the racing was high quality with deep fields for both men’s and women’s races.

Shonny Vanlandingham (USA, Luna Women’s Team) cruised through the two 10.6-mile laps in 1:37:15, only 44 second ahead of second place, Dara Marks-Marino (USA, Ford-Specialized). Heather Irminger (USA, Tokyo Joes) pulled into third place, followed closely by Canada’s Kiara Bisaro (CAN, Gears Racing).

Great Britain’s Liam Killeen (GBR, Specialized) won the men’s event. He powered through three laps in 2:03:46. Ryan Trebon (USA, Kona-Les Gets) took second, followed by Canada’s Roland Green (CAN, Kona-Les Gets) in third. Geoff Kabush (CAN, Maxxis) made it onto the podium with a fourth-place finish.
