May 8, 2006 (Fontana, CA) – Geoff Kabush (CAN, Maxxis) kept the ball rolling in the men’s NORBA short track event yesterday in Fontana, CA, as he grabbed victory number two in as many days. Kabush placed first in the men’s cross-country as well on Saturday. Alison Sydor (CAN, Rocky Mountain-Business Objects), made it a Canadian sweep at the top of the podium, when she won the women’s short track.

Both races were tight and required tactical and technical ability. Second place, Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (USA, Subaru-Gary Fisher) trailed Kabush by a second. Horgan-Kobelski, in turn, was just another second ahead of third place, Carl Decker (USA, Giant). Max Plaxton (CAN, Rocky Mountain-Business Objects) was the only other Canadian to crack the top 10, with a seventh-place finish.

Sydor and Katerina Nash (CZE, Luna Women’s Team) crossed the line with the same time, but the Canadian managed to edge out Nash for the win. Susan Haywood (USA, Trek-Volkswagen) finished third, only a second in arrears. Wendy Simms (CAN, Velo Bella-Kona) finished just outside the top 10, in 11th.
