May 8, 2006 (Fontana, CA) – Canada’s Jeff Beatty (CAN, Nrg.Com) finished only 0.4 seconds back from Cody Warren’s (USA, C-Dub Racing) winning time of 2.14.62 in Fontana, CA yesterday. Beatty’s run was good enough for second spot in the first NORBA downhill event of the season. Amiel Cavalier (AUS, Giant-SRAM) pulled into third. The only other Canadian in the race, Connor Macleod (CAN, Cove Bikes), finished 21st.

South Africa’s Joanna Petterson (RSA, Morewood) took victory in the women’s downhill with a time of 2.38.00. April Lawyer (USA, Maxxis) rolled into second place, followed by Wendy Reynolds (USA, Beqar Nake) in third. No Canadian women took part in the competition.
