April 29, 2007 (Santa Barbara County, CA) — Canada’s Geoff Kabush (Team Maxxis) has just won the elite men’s MTB XC event in a sprint finish over Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (USA) Subaru-Gary Fisher at the Firestone Santa Ynez Classic, round #2 of the National Mountain Bike Series.

Canada had three more riders in the top 10 – Max Plaxton (Can) Rocky Mountain-Haywood was 4th, Mat Toulouse (Can) Team Maxxis placed 5th and Kris Sneddon (Can) Kona Les Gets was 6th.

Georgia Gould (USA) Luna Women’s MTB Team powered away on her own with a sizeable lead to take the women’s race over Shonny Vanlandingham (USA) Luna Women’s MTB Team in second and Katerina Nash (CZE) Luna Women’s Team in 3rd for a Luna sweep. Nash crashed earlier on and made an incredible recovery coming back to place 3rd.

Canada had two riders in the top 10 with Mical Dyck (Trek/Terrascape Racing) placing 9th and Catherine Pendrel (Can) Norco finishing in 10th.
