April 27, 2008 (Offenburg, Germany) – It’s a beautiful, clear day in Offenburg with blue skies. There are 119 riders on the start line beginning with two 1.1km start loops and then 6 laps for the women on the 5.1km circuit. The women’s race is underway…

Start Loop 1
Georgia Gould (USA) jumps into the lead as they begin the start loop with Marga Fullana (Esp) and Canada’s Marie-Helene Prémont close behind.

Start Loop 2
The pack is together as the riders begin the second loop.

Lap 1
Gould is leading as the riders begin lap 1 with Prémont in 5th. Through the lap Prémont moves up with Fullana and Irina Kalentieva (Rus) there as well and China’s Ying Liu is also close behind as the riders finish lap one.

Lap 2
Now China’s Liu has moved up with Norway’s Gunn Rita Dahle Flesja and Byberg not far behind. Canada’s Prémont sits in 4th behind Kalentieva, Liu and Fullana.

Lap 3
As the riders come thru to begin lap 3 positions are the same. At about 1 minute is Canada’s Catherine Pendrel (Luna) in 7th with China’s Ren Chengyuan (Chn) in 8th – Kiara Bisaro (Opus) is 17th, Wendy Simms (Kona) is 19th.

Lap 4
No change as the riders begin lap 4. Through the lap it’s Prémont, Kalientieva, and Fullana leading followed by Liu and her team mate Chengyuan moving up – Dahle is not there.

Lap 5
Kalientieva attacks followed by Prémont and then Fullana… then it’s Ren, Liu with Byberg, Spitz and Pendrel chasing.

Lap 6 Final
Kalientieva is leading with Prémont at 20 sec. followed by China’s Ren Chengyuan with Fullana in 4th. Kalentieva wins with Canada’s Prémont at 33 seconds and China’s Ren Chengyuan in third.
