September 21, 2006 – Calyon Litespeed, a Quebec team that formed in early 2006, is still intent on organizing a new women’s team. The women’s team news was first posted by Veloptimum in January, 2006 but has recently been confirmed. Progress is being made toward organizing a new women’s cycling team in Quebec, affirmed Bernard Vives, president of Calyon Litespeed. No name has yet been found for the team, which is still in a recruitment mode, but there should be more news in October. Next month is, of course, the deadline for submitting all of the details to the Union des Cyclistes Internationale (UCI).
Calyon Litespeed’s men’s team already includes such cyclists as: Charly Vives, Érik Lyman, Carl Desroches, Jean-Sébastien Perron, Maxime Vives, Brooke Boocock and Joël Dion-Poitras. Bernard Vives is the president and Gérard Pennaroya is vice president. Team sponsors include: Calyon, Litespeed and Van Houtte Mazda, BBSP, Equibar, Lake, Martin Swiss Cycle, Restaurant le Pen Castel, Catlike et Verge. The team is committed to supporting The Diabetic Children’s Foundation.
