New UCI Continental Silber Pro Cycling Team Announced – Former Medique p/b Silber Investments Steps It Up

release by Silber Pro Cycling Team

Silber_Procycling_Team_seulJanuary 27, 2014 (Montreal, QC) – Following the incredible success during the 2013 season, Team Medique has taken a Continental license with the UCI and changed its name to Silber Pro Cycling. According to the team’s owner and Director Sportif, Scott McFarlane:

“Last year we were the youngest team competing at most events, including the Tour de Beauce, Coupe des Nations, and Nationals. Our success meant that in order to develop the team, we needed to expand the race calendar, add experienced riders, and attract staff with established records working with professional teams. We were able to do this with the help of our generous sponsors, partners and advisors. We are now in a position to put forward a dynamic race team with strong options on any terrain.”

Our staffs and riders

Silber Pro Cycling is pleased to announce that Gord Fraser will be joining the team as a Director Sportif for several projects, including the Tour of the Gila and the Philly Classic, and the Tour de Saguenay. Our award-winning manager, Clodine Gilbert, will be back to handle logistics, social media and to help out on the ground.

New riders Aurélien Passeron, Derrick St-John, Jean-Michel Lachance and William Goodfellow will bring more international racing experience. Passeron is a former U23 champion of France and rode in the Tour de France in 2008. St-John and Lachance were both on the National team at the Tour of Alberta last year, and Goodfellow raced in Belgium with Lotto-Bodysol.

Returning riders include Elliot Doyle, who won multiple races in his first-year senior, William Blackburn (Quebec Criterium Champion 2013), Olivier Delaney (member of the Quebec team at the Jeux de la Francophonie in Nice, France), Robert Ralph, Nicolas Masbourian, David Onsow and Benjamin Chartrand.

Our sponsorship group combines those working in finance and the health industry. They share our commitment to developing the dynamic culture of cycling in Canada, and its inherent investments in health, youth, teamwork and the pursuit of excellence. Our returning sponsors offer financial support, strategic advice and help in the feedzone! They include: Arthur Silber Investments, CIBC Wood Gundy, Toguri Training Systems, Medique, Buandarie Blanchelle, and PSB Boisjoli.ca. This year we welcome new sponsor, Mandevco Property Developers.

The knowledgeable staff at Vue Mer travel agency will arrange flights. Toguri Training Systems provides financial support, coaching and access to training facilities. The team will race on Argon 18’s cutting edge Gallium Pro bikes, while receiving mechanical support from Cycle Gervais Rioux. Rudy Project will be protecting our heads and eyes, while Champion System is supplying our uniforms. We are really pleased that Vincent Drouin at VéloGazette.ca will again provide professional photography to ensure that the exploits of our team, individual riders and sponsors are well-documented across social media platforms.
