February 1, 2007 (Montreal, QC) – The Bluberi-Martin Swiss team is a new national team based in Drummondville, Quebec. The team will encourage young senior and junior riders to develop their skills by participating in national competitions, providing adequate support and training.

The team’s directeur sportif, Gérard Lefebvre, has managed many bike clubs in Drummondville since the 1970s and will be assisted by experienced riders such as Marc Lapointe. Alain Levasseur from the Dynamiks of Contrecoeur will look after junior riders.

Financial support will come from the main team sponsor, Bluberi, while Martin Swiss Cycle will provide some materials and mechanical support. The team will ride Specialized bikes equipped with Specialized components and accessories. Verge is the team’s clothing sponsor, with nutrition product support from Edge, while the Centre Peak Performance in Montréal will perform physical tests on riders and follow their development.

The team will have a training camp in North Carolina this March and expects to compete in such events as the Tour of Ohio, the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic, various national and provincial road and track championships, and the Mardis cyclistes de Lachine.

The plan is to become a continental team by 2010.
