October 1, 2003 – The Nella Cramaro Gran Prix is set to go this Sunday Oct 5, in Pelham Ontario, and will be raced on the same 16km circuit as the Road Nationals earlier this year. The GP will host a world class Junior field with a 1.13 UCI sanction as well as an Espoir race with a 1.14 UCI sanction. With a start time of 12 noon, both categories will race at the same time, as the Juniors cover 125kms and the Espoirs go a furthur 50kms, totalling 175km.

The brainchild of Martin Cramaro and race promoter Willy Coyle the idea was run by the desk of CCA Director of Racing, Pierre Hutsebaut, who agreed to contact the federations and convince some of them to come early. Along with the Canadian and American riders, teams from Holland, Poland, Belgium, Israel, and Britain are confirmed.

The St. Catharines cycling club who are helping to host the event will have Buck Miller (Jet Fuel) and Warren Tillbrook (Gears) in the Espoir race and juniors Tyler Holtzman, Mark Pozniak and Greg Knapp competing. Finishing atop the 13% grade Effingham hill, spectators will have a unique opportunity to see world class bike racing from mere feet away.
