October 22, 2018 – The National Cycling Institute Milton is excited to be hosting a two race Youth Series in conjunction with Cycling Canada’s Youth Development Camps. These races will be the capstone to Cycling Canada’s new youth oriented Junior Advancement Camps.
This will provide young racers with an opportunity to race against some of the top talent from across the country that they normally would not see outside of the National Championships.“This is a huge opportunity for the young talent in this country. To have the chance to come in for a week of training and then race against their peers, is something truly special. The geographic realities of this Country mean that often times our top youth riders rarely get competitively pushed, outside of taking part in adult racing. This event should provide some pretty meaningful domestic racing opportunities for the riders to take home to their local tracks” Executive Director Chris Reid commented.
“It’s really exciting to have the country’s top young riders coming to Milton so soon after hosting the World’s best at the Milton World Cup. Racing will be a perfect end to what promises to be a great week of training” said Cycling Canada Coach Jenny Trew, who will be sending several of her Next Gen Bridge athletes to compete in December.
The two races will take place on November 3rd and December 22nd in the usual NCIM timeslot of 7-10 p.m. A schedule of events will be released closer to the date, but will be composed of bunch races that emphasize skill development.
Registration will be available through www.ncirevolution.com
Host Housing
To offset the travel cost for those attending, Cycling Canada is hoping to coordinate host housing for the week preceding the events. Families in the Milton area willing to host racers are asked to contact Jenny Trew at jenny.trew@cyclingcanada.ca
