National Track HP and Development Training Camp at FCV Jan 28-31st

December 19, 2008 (London, ON) – The Canadian Cycling Association, thanks to special funding from Sport Canada, is pleased to announce the following camp, which will take place at the velodrome in London, Ontario with the help of the Forest City Velodrome. There will be two days of timed efforts and skills, and then two days of racing and training at the FCV Winter Nationals.

This will be the first camp this year in Ontario, as we try to ensure a geographic balance to our team activities with the intention of creating opportunities for as many riders as possible to take part. In particular, we are hoping to involve a number of Junior riders in this camp, alongside our High Performance athletes, to give them a chance to test their potential at this level. Athletes who believe that they have the potential to be part of the team in the next four to eight years should email Richard Wooles (richard.wooles@canadian-cycling.com) with their current race results and how they can contribute to medal performances. If you are unable to attend, but are still committed to Track, please submit your reasons to Richard Wooles by email.

The goal of this camp will be to identify the pool of riders for the Elite and Development National Team (new prospects) aiming at London 2012 and 2016. This will again be a self-funded camp. The CCA will cover track time, coaching and feedback to you, and we will discuss with you where the program is heading over the next four to eight years.

Riders will need to pay for their own flight, food and accommodation. The best hotel to stay in will be booked through the FCV at the cost of $77 per room per night (including breakfast), with up to three people in a room.

Please email richard.wooles@canadian-cycling.com by December 28 if you are able to attend.
