July 26, 2003 – This Friday at 7:00 the Nas Track “Pit Crew” will be performing more “Music to Sling By” out at the Velodrome at Bloomer Park. Bring a blanket, some refreshments, and a chair and be prepared to be entertained by some of Detroit top musicians at the country's top musical/cycling venue. If you find the main viewing hill too crowded, feel free to join us or come on down to the infield.
The Pit Crew will consist this week of:
Piano – Pat Nielsen: Former National Junior champ; placed at World's one year too! Plays around town most notably at Baker's Keyboard Lounge.
Lead Guitar – Ed “Shifty” Gostin; grew up outside of Macon, Georgia; same home town as the Allman Brothers. I think that he used to be Greg's paperboy, brought all of their licks up here.
Drums/Vocals – Mikee “Tub Kicker” Saymn. Toured with Mitch Ryder for awhile back in his “I should have been going to college days” and currently a featured vocalist with the Detroit Concert Choir.
Bass – Phil “Bus Driver” Morgan. A Chicago Blues import. Played with Buddy Guy's house band and recorded a little with Albert Collins.
Rhythm Guitar – Leonardo “Money Man” Gianola. Known for upside-down, left-handed, 5-string confusion.
The winner of last week's Mystery Song Contest was Ceri Fass. Her correct guess of Jimi Hendrix's “Little Wing” won her a Grand Cash Prize. The 'Crew has again put their heads together to come up with another stumper for this week.
Oh yea, there is going to be some great Madison bike racing there too!
