April 19, 2012 (Nanaimo, BC) – Mid Island Velo Association (MIVA) is pleased to announce the first edition of the Nanaimo Cobblestone Classic Criterium to be held on a challenging 1.7km circuit in downtown Nanaimo, BC, on June 17.

The event is sanctioned by Cycling BC and will comprise four races: cat 3/4 men, women, a junior event, and the showcase pro/am cat 1/2 race at 1:30pm.

The Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association is the title sponsor for the first Cobblestone Classic. An intensive publicity campaign will go into high gear shortly to generate a large crowd. The spectators will be treated to the sight of large packs of riders speeding around the circuit at speeds of up to 60kph.

Riders must pre-register for the race by signing up HERE. Those who register by June 1 will get the early discount. Final cut-off for entries is June 10.
