May 17th, 2004 – On Saturday, May 15/04, at the last remaining Track World Cup event in Sydney, Australia Lori-Ann Muenzer of Edmonton picked up her second medal of the weekend. Her first medal, a bronze in the sprints, was a battle that she fought hard to earn. She qualified a solid sixth place in the 200 meters which pitted her up against Victoria Pendelton of England in the first round of sprints.

Pendelton won the first two sprints knocking Muenzer out of the pool. However, Muenzer fought her way back into the game through the repecharge heats. In the semi-finals, Muenzer was first up against Anna Meares of Australia. Muenzer took the first sprint but then was nudged out two straight.

However, her confidence was not to be shaken and she went on to win two straight in the finals for the bronze medal. Muenzer continued her success streak by placing 2nd in the 500 meter time-trial with a time of 35.4 seconds. She is demonstrating great form for the up coming World Championships in two weeks in Melbourne, Australia.
