September 6, 2003, (Lugano, SUI) – France's Emmeline Ragot had a fast ride in the final in the women's event, shedding just over five seconds on silver medalist Scarlett Hagen from New Zealand. Ragot, (currently ranked 11th in the senior women's World Cup after only two events) won the Worlds last year and will be back next year for another year of junior. Bernardita Pizarro (CHI) rounded out the podium in third place. No Canadian women competed.
