September 8, 2003 (Lugano, SUI) – Canada's Alison Sydor has put any doubts that she is getting slower with age as today the North Vancouver native too the silver medal behind Germany's Sabine Spitz at the MTB Worlds Elite Women's XC event. Sydor led for most of the race and was caught toward the end by Spitz. Russia's Irina Kalentieva took the bronze. Canada's Marie-Helene Premont  finished a superb fifth.
