June 6, 2010 (Oregon) – We just received more good news that Canada’s Jamie Sparling (Total Restoration Cycling Team) has won the final Stage 5 Hood River Criterium, while Leah Guloien, also in Total Restoration Cycling Team colours, won the women’s final stage…
The Kelowna-based Total Restoration Cycling Team posted the following message on their twitter feed four days ago. (just before the start of this year’s Mount Hood Cycling Classic.)
“Prologue starts now. Safety off, boys r goin to plan B – just goin to GIVE’R”
Jamie Sparling appears to have taken that to heart, finding himself in most of “the major breaks in each of the four road stages of this year’s event. Stage 2 “was particularly disappointing when an untimely flat took him out of the “winning move.” (His escape companion Nick Hamilton eventually took the win)
However, persistence paid off in today’s final stage, the Full Sail Brewing Company’s downtown Hood River Criterium. Undaunted by rain, Sparling escaped early and managed to sprint to victory, repeating his win from the same race last year.
All in all it was a great day for the Total Restoration Team. On the women’s side, Leah Guloien sprinted to victory with fellow teammate Laura Brown hitting the podium in 3rd place.
Women’s results coming.
