June 11, 2004 – The weekend of June 19-20, 2004 marks the sixth anniversary
of Golden, B.C.’s Mt. 7 Psychosis. This is the longest and toughest downhill
mountain bike race in North America.

The Cycling BC-sanctioned event reigns supreme among the core of the DH
riding community, who whisper of it as the ultimate trial of speed, skill,
and endurance. Few have the guts to enter, fewer have the ability to finish
4500 feet of steeps, drops, rocks, and dirt, and only the elite can pull it
off in less than 15 minutes of sheer madness. Brought to you by the Golden
Cycling Club, Psychosis features over a thousand bucks in cash prizes and
tons of free stuff, beer gardens, and a Saturday night draw prize social
(8:00 p.m., at the Mad Trapper Pub), and good times for riders and spectators
alike.

Here’s what Trevor Shpeley , ex-Cycling BC race director, had to say about
the Psychosis: “All in all, the Mt. 7 course is one of the coolest I’ve ever
seen and it definitely is unique in many, many ways. I don’t think you
could really call yourself a “hot poo” DH racer without giving this one a
try. But if you go, bring your guts and your lungs, you’ll need ’em both!”

National Geographic will be on hand to film this spectacle of big mountain
bravery, because events like this deserve national attention. We are
