Mosport Road Race Ready to Roll

April 13, 2007 – Nine days after a chilly start to the Ontario road racing season at the Good Friday race on the streets of Flamborough, the second event on the schedule is set to drop on the historic road course of Mosport International Speedway near Bowmanville.

Bikecrazie.com is hosting the event on Sunday, April 15, on the 4km course, which will be run in reverse this year, similar to how it was stage in 2005.

“Mosport is a great event for both the entry level and experienced racer – the course is wide, has smooth pavement and there are no concerns about cars entering the course,” said Noel Savage, one of the event’s organizers.

“The reverse direction has shorter steeper climbs but also has a long recovery section as riders go through the start/finish line,” he added.

Pre-registration closes Friday, April 13 at midnight, and anyone who is registered before that time will have a better chance of winning a set of 2007 Mavic Ksyrium wheels, which have been donated by Bicycles Plus in Oshawa. Pre-registered riders will get three ballots and day-of riders will get one ballot. Savage is hoping for even better numbers than in 2006.

“Last year we had over 550 riders (pre-reg and day of). Of course we are hoping for another great turnout,” he said.
