April 18, 2007 (Bowmanville, ON) – The weather wasn’t exactly tropical, but with no blowing snow or wind chill factors of 15 below, well over two hundred riders took to the four kilometre permanent Mosport International Speedway road course on Sunday, April 15, near Bowmanville, Ontario.

The annual Bikecrazie.com event on the hilly course is popular among riders because of its smooth and wide surface. Because it’s a closed course, there’s also no fear of cars coming onto the course and no need for corner marshals.

On the men’s side of the results sheet, Calyon/Litespeed rider Charly Vives edged Cyclissimo’s Nathan Chown and The Cyclery rider Osmond Bakker in a sprint finish of the Senior 1-2 race. That lead group finished nearly 40 seconds ahead of the chasing group. In the Senior 3 race, just 24 seconds separated first from 18th place, but it was David Byer coming away with the win as he edged out Brandon Throop at the line. In Senior 4, Charlie Philbrook from London repeated his win from the Good Friday road race by beating Jamis rider Michael Falikowski by three seconds.

In the master races, Greg Cavanagh won a thrilling Master 1 race ahead of Team RACE’s Hamish Gordon and London’s Charlie Squires. Kees Louws won the Master 2 race while Jeff Shikaze won the Master 3 event. Sudbury’s Thomas Hums won the junior men’s race while Ottawa Bicycling Club swept the podium in the cadet men’s race with Andrew Lattimore taking the victory.

On the women’s side, Cheerwine rider Leigh Hobson beat the Team Ultralink duo of Jennifer Stephenson and Denise Ramsden by one and two seconds, respectively, in the Senior 1-2 race. Jamis-Bikezone rider Carrie Cartmill won the Senior 3 women’s race, Cyclefit’s Sylvia D’Aoust won the Master Women’s A race and TI Racing’s Kathy Lewis won the Master B race.

CIBC Wood Gundy rider Laurie-Anne Dupont-Renaud won the junior women’s race by some 24 seconds while Charlotte Batty won the cadet women’s race.
