May 21, 2012 (Ottawa, ON) – The Canadian Para-cycling Team enjoyed significant successes on Sunday in Europe, with Marie-Claude Molnar (C4), Shelley Gautier (T1) and Marie-Ève Croteau (T2) both winning their time trial race in an international race in Italy, while the powerful tandem of Robbi Weldon and Lyne Bessette took the top spot in the general classification of the Tour of Belgium.
Arnold Boldt (C2) posted the third fastest time of his category to climb on the third step of the podium.
Molnar, Gautier and Croteau all three enjoyed a successful weekend in preparation for the UCI World Cup opener, winning both the road race and the time trials.
In the tour of Belgium, the tandem of Robbie World and Lyne Bessette won the overall general classification of the tour of Belgium. The tandem only stage race started on Thursday and featured two time trial races and four road races.
Canada’s tandem of Geneviève Ouellette and Émilie Roy took the third place in the women’s general classification. In the men’s race, Daniel Chalifour and Alexandre Cloutier was the top Canadian tandem in sixth place.
