Mike’s Bike Shop Cup – Week 11 Results

August 14, 2008 – The Mike’s Bike Shop Cup series held the second criterium race of the series on Tuesday in Moncton. After 45 minutes of racing around the 1 km circuit the finish again came down to a sprint between two junior riders: Jean Richard Cormier and Denis Hebert with Cormier taking the win for the second week in a row. Once the handicap was applied the winner for the night was Melanie Bordage. Series leader Derrick Keith holds his series lead with 685 points with Mike Leblanc still chasing him at 485 points. With only one more criterium before the series moves to BMX. While Leblanc is an ace at BMX, Keith looks to be secure in his top spot as he has considerable motocross racing experience under his belt which should give him an edge in the BMX racing.

The Mike’s Bike Shop Cup is a series of weekly races held on Tuesdays nights at 6:30pm. The series also includes BMX and cyclocross events to be held later in the summer and fall. The overall winner of the series will pick a charitable organization to which a donation from the registration proceeds will be made.

The series continues with the last of three criterium races on August 19. Race details and directions are available on the Atlantic Cycling Centre website. Go to www.AtlanticCyclingCentre.com for more information.
