September 22, 2006 — After spending the last five years with both the Discovery Channel cycling team and US Postal I decided to change environments and will race for T-Mobile for the next two seasons.

I have spent five great years with the same team and I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to race at the highest level where we accomplished a lot together. I made a lot of good friends, have many fond memories, and was able to pursue my dreams and progress.

Discovery made me a very generous offer to stay with the team but I decided to make a change in pursuit of new opportunities. I signed the contract a month ago prior to the start of the Vuelta.

I am excited to be a member of the new T-Mobile team and I’m looking forward to the coming years. The team will be English speaking with a revamped roster, new goals and objectives, and one that I am honoured to be a member of.
