September 25, 2004 – Hi Pedal, I am now back from the Vuelta after stopping the race in the final week. I talked to our director Johan Bruyneel about stopping in the last week to rest up and get healthy for the Road Worlds. The Vuelta went really well for our team as we had the leader’s jersey for half of it, won two stages, and had two riders in the top ten for much of the race. We pretty much met all of the goals we’d set going in the Vuelta. I had a cold during the race so I was not able to perform as well as I had wished but I was still able to do work for the team consistently. Now I am looking forward to the Road Worlds next week…
