June 2, 2004 – Hi everyone. Having flown in from Spain on Saturday half of
the team wasn’t really sure
what kind of legs we would have for the race today. In Lancaster there is no
hiding as the course is undulating and hard. The strongest guys are usually
in front and generally win. It is in fact a harder race in many ways than
the upcoming race on Sunday in Philadelphia.

After missing a few early breakaways and having to chase we put all our
hopes on Max (Van Heeswijk) for the finish. With a few laps to go the team
took control
kept the breakaways at a close distance and set the race up for Max.
Unexpectedly (he is a sprinter and we were thinking he could win the sprint)
he attacked with five km to go and stayed away to win solo.
As the race unfolded we pushed off our jetlag made it to the front and made
the race happen. It was a good victory for the team as everybody rode
cohesively and for one goal.
