November 10, 2008 (Fort Langley, BC) – After an 8-week lay-off with a broken collar bone, Local Ride Racing’s Jean Ann McKirdy returned Sunday to win the Women’s A category at the BC Cup # Kona Adobe cyclocross in Alder Acres, Fort Langley, BC. McKirdy, runner up in last year’s cross series and the 2008 Canada Cup MTB champion, won the season opener convincingly only to break her collar bone a week later on a team training ride.
On Sunday, in a torrential downpour, McKirdy took the lead from the start and held off the field to secure her second win of the year. “It was just good to be back and playing in the mud,” commented McKirdy. With three races to go in the series, McKirdy still has a chance for a top-3 overall placing in the series.
The next event in the series is the Cross (Port) Coquitlam on November 15. For more info on Local Ride Racing Team www.localride.ca
