November 16, 2010 – Here is the latest news from the offices of the Manitoba Cycling Association, including updates from the 2010 MCA Awards Dinner on November 10, like the winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award and Rider of the Year Awards. Also, the MCA has elected a new President and check out the results from the Halloween at the Harbour Cross results.

Paul Benson elected as new MCA President
At the MCA AGM held on Saturday November 13th Paul Benson was elected as the new MCA President. Joining Paul was Dylan Harris who was elected as the new Mountain Bike Coordinator.

Colin Ward named 2010 Lifetime Achievment Award Recipient
The late Colin Ward was this year’s recipient of the MCA Lifetime Achievement Award. The Award was presented at the MCA Annual awards dinner on Saturday November 13th. Colin was a longtime volunteer for the MCA and served as President as well as organizer for the Track Nationals in Winnipeg. The Award was presented to Colin’s son Tony who traveled from Australia to be on hand for the evening. Joining Tony was his mother Anne. Colin Ward joins previous recipients Erik Oland and Joe Pope.

Brigden and Kirchmann capture Rider of the Year Awards
Rob Brigden won the Rider of the Year Award for mountain Bike at the MCA Annual Awards. Leah Kirchmann was the 2010 selection for Rider of the year in the Road category. Kirchmann also received Top Female Rider honors for the Road category as well. Anna Schappert captured the Top Female rider in mountain Bike. Other winners included:
