Mazur Coaching/Wheels of Bloor Team – A Solid Debut

report by Charles Bryer

March 17, 2010 – After a two-month stint in Tucson, Arizona the Mazur Coaching/Wheels of Bloor team took a small squad to the North End Cycling Classic located in Yuma, AZ. Despite being far from home, unfamiliar with the competition and most notably it being the first race of the year, collectively as a team, the boys clad in Red, White and Black displayed a strong level of early season fitness.

The team was active in every move, displaying their rising form heading into the 2010 season. Derrek Ivey was the top Canadian, placing 3rd behind Eric Marcotte and Corey Steinbrecher of Team Pista Palace. Justin Steeds and guest rider, Christian Deshaies placed 6th and 22nd respectively on the opening stage.

The Mazur Coaching/Wheels of Bloor team is in their final preparations for the upcoming season. The core of the team will be in Tucson for another 10 days, while other members will be either racing in the Redlands Bicycle Classic or finalizing their training for the upcoming season in the refreshingly warm weather in Ontario.

The full team will be assembled for the first time in its entirety for the Good Friday Road Race, the opening Ontario Cup Road Series event. Following the Good Friday Road Race the team’s next major objective will be the Tour of the Battenkill in mid-April. Look for further updates and press releases in the very near future regarding the team, associated sponsors and upcoming race schedule.

All the best, thanks for reading.
