February 21, 2005 – – Maverick was pleased to attend the first Winterbike Festival at the annual Bicycle Leadership Conference held in Phoenix, Arizona the second week of February. The event brought top players from the industry, big and small, together with leading retailers and industry personnel.
“The venue at McDowell Mountain Park was ideal for testing mountain bikes,” states Ed Kuh, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Maverick. “Even when it sprinkled a little bit, the packed-sand trails held up well, and traction was at a maximum. The conditions actually made our bikes stand out more than ever, with dealers raving about our bikes’ superior climbing, increased suspension travel and ultra-light long travel forks.” McDowell Mountain Park is the former site of the Specialized Cactus Cup in the late 80’s and early 90’s , which was the “Sea Otter” of its day. The park is filled with twisting, turning and undulating singletrack, as well as flash-flood-worn drop-aways that provide incredible suspension testing opportunities. “It was awesome to have Maverick attend our first Winterbike event,” commented Lance Camisasca, Event Director of Interbike. “Maverick always seems to be a little bit ahead of the game, and it was great to have them and the other forward thinking companies in our industry demonstrating their latest product.”
After the outdoor demo, retailers and industry members from the Bicycle Leadership Conference came to the Maverick product showcase to check out the latest frames, forks and bikes, and sample Corzo Reposado tequila, toast with Hornitos and Conmemorativo margaritas, and sample the best Mexican food in Phoenix from the world famous Los Dos Molinos cafe.
