release by CanBiCuba

August 26, 2009 – The Cardenas Cycling Club & CanBiCuba Cycling Club are hosting a masters cycling four day event this coming October. Open to all Masters age categories including a special 30-35 group to accommodate Cuban riders who are regarded by their federation as over the hill at 30 years of age. They just want to race and have fun.

This is a fun small time event put on by the two clubs. Entry fees cover motor bikes and car gas for the organizer medals and extra money raised will be used to spruce up the club house in Chardonnay. Click here for more details.

Vuelta De La Sierra Maestra Feb. 14-28/10
The tour is a great adventure and is much removed from the action of the racing scene. We encourage riders to bring either a mountain or hybrid bike. Most of the roads are good for road bikes but there are a few days when we ride on some rough and broken up roads.

The tour starts and finishes in the city of Holguin. There is a following bus that departs the hotel at noon each day bringing our luggage, we are in constant contact with the driver but the bus does not follow close behind. We don’t like it and neither does the bus.

Most breakfasts and evening meals are included and their are a couple of nights where we will be on our own in private restaurants. Water is carried on the bus and while on the road you are responsible for your on ride snacks.

If you are flying from a country other than Canada and need to stay over an extra night or so we can help you. Your flight will need to be taken care of in your home country unless you are traveling to Cuba via Canada.

This is a great trip at an easy pace – click here for more details.

There is hope of another tour in late March, Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Topes, Santa Clara and Varadero. At this time we are looking for a group leader and will post this event on the club site in due course titled “Tailwind”. If you wish to host a special event of your own please contact us in Cuba we will be glad to assist you.
