Mary Monroe, a 10-year board member of the International Mountain Bicycling Association, resigned from IMBA's board effective March 25. Monroe became a volunteer director of the mountain bike advocacy group in '94, and served for six years as an IMBA vice-president while she was the sports marketing director for Trek and Gary Fisher Bicycles. Monroe went on to become the chief marketing officer for USA Cycling.
Monroe chaired the committee that produced IMBA's 1997 Global Summit. She helped guide IMBA through a period of dramatic growth, providing marketing and sponsorship advice as well as connections to the bike industry and racing community.
Monroe, who lives in Boulder, Colorado, is Director of Sponsorship/Marketing for eTown, a nationally syndicated radio show that blends music, interviews and information to entertain and educate people about social and environmental issues.
