June 03, 2014 (Lachine, QC) – The president of the Mardis Cyclistes, Mr. Tino Rossi, made the decision to postpone Round #1 of the 2014 Mardis Cyclistes cycling races scheduled for June 3, after consultation with Lachine police chief, Sylvain Bissonnette, and Louis Lalonde, a commissaire with the FQSC.
After a few hours of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, it was decided that conditions were too dangerous to hold the races this evening. Specifically, the asphalt was considered to be too slippery.
Because safety is a priority, the 10-stage series of races will now begin on June 10 and finish on August 12, but there will no longer be a pause for the week of July 22 as announced earlier.
