Make a Wish Ride

release by Mud, Sweat and Gears

July 29, 2009 – Hi Everyone. Hope you are having a great summer and enjoying the outdoors while it’s hot out! You may know that the staff and I are trying to raise the $ 8,000 to purchase a wish for a terminally ill child. The Northern Alberta Make a Wish Foundation collects funds and distributes them to families in unfortunate circumstances such as this. They estimate that it takes about $ 8,000 to purchase, which may include family travel to Disneyland etc.

To date Mud, Sweat and Gears has raised $3,300. We are organizing a charity ride, lunch and motivational talk with Pro Triathlete Kristina Schultz. The ride is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday Sept. 12. The ride will leave from Salisbury Greenhouse and proceed on road for approx. a 1-hour loop. After the ride there is a free lunch at the Greenhouse and then a Kristina will give us all a great insight into the life of a pro triathlete/mom. It is for all ride levels and the cost is free. All that we are asking is to do your best to raise some pledges or make a donation to help us reach our goal.

I have pledge forms that I can send you if you would like to attend, you will not only be treated to a great time but you can also feel good about being a small part of a great thing for someone else. Many cycling charities revolve around raising money to prevent or fight cancer which is wonderful, but unfortunately all too often it is a lost battle, worst of all with children. That’s why we feel this charity is so important and we need your help.

If you would like to ride with us please reply and I will send you a pledge form, if you know of someone else that would like to attend please forward this to them.
