Lunch With Steve Bauer

August 11, 2003 – The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Hamilton 2003 Road World Cycling Championships, is staging a luncheon on Tuesday, August 12th, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce (555 Bay Street North) to celebrate the Chamber's participation in the Cycling Championships.

Renowned Canadian cyclist Steve Bauer, who wore the Leader's Yellow Jersey in the Tour de France and was an Olympic Silver medalist will be the featured speaker. Steve attended the Tour de France and will offer his insights on it and the upcoming Road World Championships. Also attending the lunch will be Canadian National Team Cyclist and Hamilton's own Sue Palmer-Komar.

The Road World Cycling Championships will be staged in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada from October 6 to 12, 2003. Over 800 athletes from over 50 different countries will compete in ten different races. There are two disciplines – the individual time trial and the road race with five different classifications, elite men and women, junior men and women, as well as Under 23 men. It will be only the sixth time the Road World Championships have been held outside Europe and the second time in Canada, the first occasion was 1974 in Montreal.
