July 23, 2018 – Louis Garneau was involved in a serious crash on Saturday morning and was taken to the l’hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus where he is in stable condition. According to Radio-Canada, the incident occurred on a group ride with a simple touch of wheels causing the fall. Garneau made a post that day on Facebook updating everyone on his condition and reminding everyone to wear a helmet… “It saved my life,” he wrote . The accompanying photo depicts how serious this incident was, with Garneau wearing an oxygen mask and neck brace with bandages wrapped around his head.

The 59-year-old suffered a concussion and punctured lung but is still in good spirits, posting a cheerful photo with the caption; “Good news … I’m going to my house … thx to all my friends and the hospital … great service! God Bless!” Another post thanks his helmet for doing it’s job, reminding everyone how vital these simple pieces of equipment can be. Best wishes to Louis for a speedy recovery.
