Lori-Ann Muenzer Honoured in Film

September 22, 2005 – The backdrop for the first annual Festival of the Future, are the mystic and spectacular North Shore Mountains of North Vancouver.

Taking inspiration from the power of nature, Festival of the Future seeks to find films that display extraordinary courage in ordinary people. Though they may come from various backgrounds and situations, each film must leave a message of inspiration, and encourage the audience to seek out, understand, or otherwise accept the possibility of personal, societal, or environmental improvement.

This year we have 2 films booked; starting with Becky Bristow’s award winning documentary “A Russian Wave”. As well as winning numerous awards Becky’s film was a Banff Mountain Film festival finalist and has toured over 25 countries. “A Russian Wave” tells the story of 2 white water kayakers who travel to central Russia to find new rivers to explore, but find their Russian hosts and an aging helicopter have something else in mind.

The second film is an absolute must see, “1gnb, one gear no breaks” follows 2004 Canadian track cycling Olympic Gold medalist, Lori-Ann Muenzer as she travels the world in search of the only crown she does not own”¦.The World Championship.

On the way she finds that the difficult road leads to places where she doesn’t expect, and rewards that don’t always come from the podium.

A best selling author, Muenzer will be on hand to introduce the film and answer questions after.

In addition we will be showing some hot new local artists in the lobby, as well as a show case of new products, and technology.

Some musicians may drop by, and maybe a surprise or two. It will be a great show, an evening to remember.

The Show goes Friday October 13th at 7:00pm, at the Centennial Theatre, 2300 Lonsdale ave, North Vancouver.

Tickets are $10.00 and available at (604)984 4484, or at the door.
