London 2012 Paralympic Games – Canada Allocated 2 Spots in Preliminary Qualification

January 5, 2011 (Aigle, Switzerland) – The International Cycling Union (UCI) is pleased to announce the list of initial places allocated to National Paralympic Committees for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The UCI has allocated one qualification place to each of the 40 top countries in the Men’s category and each of the 23 top countries in the Women’s category in accordance with the Qualification Guide published in June 2010 and on the basis of the UCI Para-Cycling Nations Ranking published on December 31. Ranked among the top 23 countries in the women’s points and top 40 in the men’s, Canada has been allocated one spot each for the men’s and women’s teams.

This announcement means that 40 places have been allocated for athletes in the Men category out of a total of 155 and 23 in the Women category out of a total of 70. The remaining places will be allocated at a later date, in accordance with the procedure described in the “Qualification Guide”
