April 29, 2007 – Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the oldest of the classics dating back to 1894, is often referred to as La Doyenne (‘old woman’ in French). The 262km route from Liège to Bastogne and back north to Ans (near Liège), through the hills of the Ardennes, is the final of the spring classics.
There are 12 côtes that will challenge the riders for this coveted race won by Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d’Epargne) last year. Canada’s Michael Barry (T-Mobile) is in the hunt hoping for win for his team.
